(12) No scutage or aid may be levied in our kingdom without its general consent, unless it is for the ransom of our person, to make our eldest son a knight, and (once) to marry our eldest daughter. For these purposes only a reasonable aid may be levied. Aids from the city of London are to be treated similarly.

짐의 왕국 안에서 일반의 동의 없이 부역면제세나 상납금을 부과하지 못하는데, 단 짐의 몸값을 치러야 할 경우가 생기거나, 짐의 장남이 기사 작위를 받거나, 짐의 장녀가 결혼식을 치를 때는 (처음에 한하여) 예외로 둔다. 이 목적들에 부합하더라도 합리적 상납금만 부과 가능하다. 런던 시의 상납금도 이와 유사하게 조치된다.

(13) The city of London shall enjoy all its ancient liberties and free customs, both by land and by water. We also will and grant that all other cities, boroughs, towns, and ports shall enjoy all their liberties and free customs.

런던 시는 오래전부터 내려온 자유를 누리며 육상과 해상의 관세가 면제될 것이다. 짐은 모든 다른 도시와 자치구와 소도시와 항구가 모두 자유와 관세 면제를 누리기를 촉구하고 승인하는 바이다.

(39) No free man shall be seized or imprisoned, or stripped of his rights or possessions, or outlawed or exiled, or deprived of his standing in any way, nor will we proceed with force against him, or send others to do so, except by the lawful judgment of his equals or by the law of the land.

자유민에게 상응하는 합법적 판결이나 그 지역의 조례에 따르지 않고서는, 어느 누구도 어떤 식으로든 체포되거나 구금되지 않고, 자신의 권리와 소유물을 박탈당하지 않으며 범법자 취급을 당하거나 추방되지 않으며, 자신의 사회적 지위를 빼앗기지 않을 것이다. 또 짐은 그에게 무력을 행사하지 않을 것이며 타인들이 그에게 무력을 행사하게끔 방치하지도 않을 것이다.

(41) All merchants may enter or leave England unharmed and without fear, and may stay or travel within it, by land or water, for purposes of trade, free from all illegal exactions, in accordance with ancient and lawful customs. This, however, does not apply in time of war to merchants from a country that is at war with us. Any such merchants found in our country at the outbreak of war shall be detained without injury to their persons or property, until we or our chief justice have discovered how our own merchants are being treated in the country at war with us. If our own merchants are safe they shall be safe too.

모든 외국 상인은 교역 목적으로, 해를 입지 않고 안전하게 육상이든 해상이든 잉글랜드에 출입하거나 체류할 수 있으며, 불법으로 부당하게 세금을 부과받지 않고 오래전부터 내려온 적법한 관세를 적용받을 것이다. 그렇지만 이것은 전시에 교전 상대국에서 온 상인에게는 적용되지 않는다. 전쟁 발발 시 짐의 나라에 있는 교전 상대국의 상인들은 일신상 상해나 재산 손괴 없이 억류될 수 있는데, 짐 또는 상급 법원이 교전 상대국에서 우리 상인들이 받는 대우를 확인하기 전까지 그러하다. 우리 상인들이 안전하다면 상대국의 상인들 역시 안전할 것이다.

(63) It is accordingly our wish and command that the English Church shall be free, and that men in our kingdom shall have and keep all these liberties, rights, and concessions, well and peaceably in their fullness and entirety for them and their heirs, of us and our heirs, in all things and all places for ever.

짐과 짐의 상속자들의 책무로서, 잉글랜드 교회가 자유로워지고, 짐의 왕국에 사는 사람이라면 자신들과 자신들의 상속자들을 위해, 모든 것들과 모든 장소에 영원하도록 충만함과 완전함으로 넉넉하고 평화롭게 이러한 모든 자유와 권리와 혜택을 지니고 누리게끔 하는 것이 이에 따른 짐의 바람이자 명령이다.
